Principal's Message
Mary Kennedy, Principal
Dear Panther families,
Welcome to Hackleburg Elementary School! We are working hard to promote a culture of shared partnerships with students, parents, families, and the community. It is our belief that every student can learn and deserves the best educational opportunities that can be afforded to them. It is my sincere pleasure to serve as principal of this campus and learn along with our students. They inspire me to work harder for them each day.
This year we have already seen our Panther Cubs shine in academics. They have significantly increased their reading proficiency scores from the end of last year to the present. Students are mastering skill sets in the classrooms faster than ever. Our Beta Club welcomed a record number of new members as well as continued excellence from previously inducted members. Students are making gains in becoming responsible young men and women to continue success as they advance academically toward high school.
Our teachers and staff have created a learning community among themselves. The majority of our faculty is currently training in various professional development programs to support the science of reading. Our teaching practices have been transformed to teach to the developing brains at every level. Many of our teachers take on additional roles to support arts and extracurricular activities. The caliber of lessons taught by our teachers is unmatched!
The community support for Hackleburg Elementary School is one of our greatest assets. Through the city tax fund, our classrooms are equipped with the most recent curriculum and most recent tools for improving education each and every day. The feedback and support from our community continue to be the pinnacle of stakeholder involvement.
The students, the faculty and staff, and the community make it a great day to be a Panther!
