Phillips Elementary School

Marion County Principals, Assistant Principals, and Central Office Administrators strive to be lifelong learners. We have participated in two years of administrative leadership training that involved both individual coaching at the school level and system whole group training. Kacy Pierce, Denise Woods, and Cheryl Capps were our trainers and mentors. During the process they have become partners and friends of Marion County Schools.

3rd grade is learning about different fossils. They made trace fossils yesterday!

Big appreciation shout out to Mr. Tom Hill! Tom saw that the recent rain sent our grass into growing overdrive, and he spent his day with a weed-eater and lawn mower sprucing up our campus. We appreciate you so much, Tom! #ittakesavillage

4th graders had the opportunity to study waves and explore density in their science class by attempting to mix oil and water. They discovered the oil layers on top of the water! #amsti4all

2nd grade enjoyed learning about science during their field trip to the Cook's Science Museum!

Reminder: Today was the last day of the after-school program for the 2023-2024 school year. We have enjoyed our extra time with your children!

Health Heroes will be offering vaccines on April 24th, 2024 at Phillips Elementary.  This is a great time to get the REQUIRED Tdap vaccine for incoming 6th graders. All incoming 6th graders who are 11 and older can receive the required Tdap booster free of charge at school. MCV (Meningococcal) and HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccines are also available free of charge. These, however, are not required by the state. Your child must have a signed consent form if you wish for them to receive the vaccine. No vaccines will be given without a signed consent form. If you need a consent form, please let your child’s teacher know. Forms must be turned in by Friday, April 19th, 2024. If you have any questions, feel free to call Nurse Danielle at 205-486-5062

Congratulations to 2nd grader, Abby Davis, on winning our family night estimation station! She guessed 111 pieces of candy and there were 118. Way to go!

Reminder... we have our family math & literacy night tonight from 5:30-6:30 in the Attie Fleming Building. All students who attend will receive a free sno-cone on Thursday. There will also be a table full of free books, arts and crafts, and educational activities. We hope to see you all there!

Reminder... Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 6th grade will have graduation pictures tomorrow! Proofs and purchase information will be sent home at a later date.
