We are aware of the social media post concerning a threat made to schools in a neighboring county. To our knowledge, there have been no threats made to Marion County Schools. However, our local law enforcement has been made aware of the situation, and our schools will operate on a soft lockdown today only as a precautionary measure.
Thank you to the members of the Marion County Sheriff’s office, Hamilton PD, Winfield PD, and Berry PD for carrying out a drug dog search at one of our schools today.
National Administrative Professionals’ Day, also known as Secretaries' Day, recognizes the professionals who keep an office running smoothly every day. We have some awesome ones, and we appreciate all of you!
National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. The 2023 celebration marks the 65th anniversary of the first event which was observed in 1958.
Phillips High - Abagail Keller and Lauren Welch attended the National Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL. Abagail earned 1st Place in Employability Skills. PHS JAG was recognized as Outstanding NCA Chapter and received the Merit Award for its National Service Project and work with Habitat For Humanity. Congratulations!
Hackleburg Rocketry was one of nine teams in the state of Alabama that qualified for the 2023 American Rocketry Challenge! Congratulations on being a National Finalist!
Congratulations to Hackleburg High School for being represented in Montgomery at FFA Day on the Hill by three of their FFA members. They were greeted by Governor Kay Ivey as they walked the Capitol Hill steps. What a memorable experience!
Phillips High's JAG Chapter donated $200 to the Shoals Habitat for Humanity Chapter. Accepting the donation is Ms. Lisa Parker, Executive Director for that chapter. This donation will aide in the construction of a new home. This project is JAG's National Service Project.

Phillips High - Emma Taylor was recognized as the 2023 Region 7 Class 1A Achievement Award Winner at the Bryant-Jordan Banquet in Birmingham. She received a $3000 scholarship. We are truly honored to have student-athletes such as Emma competing for our schools and communities.
All Marion County Schools will be closed tomorrow (April 7th) for a Weather Day and Monday (April 10th) for a Teacher Work Day. Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe! (School will resume for students on Tuesday, April 11th).

Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Markham’s 3rd graders at Guin Elementary are “flying away from ACAP”! They celebrated finishing ACAP testing this week by learning how to make paper airplanes and having a competition to see whose could fly the furthest.
