Marion County Schools welcomes our new Superintendent, Dr. Patrick Sutton!
Dr. Sutton was sworn in today by Judge Daryl Burt with many of his family, friends, and colleagues in attendance. We are looking forward to Dr. Sutton's leadership.




All Marion County Schools will be closed December 23, 2024 - January 6, 2025 for the Christmas holidays. Students will begin the second semester on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Phillips High School JAG Chapter visited the American Village Citizenship Trust located in Montevallo, Alabama on December 4. During their visit, the students learned about the foundations of American liberty and constitutional self-government. This experience included the students engaging with members of the American Village cast who were in costume and character.
All students will dismiss tomorrow, December 20, at 12:00 to begin the Christmas holidays! We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Stay safe!

The Phillips High School JAG Chapter held their Officer and Member Installation Ceremony on December 11, 2024.

Hamilton Elementary School was recognized at today's MCBE board meeting for earning the National Distinguished School Award. Congratulations on a job well done!

The Marion County Board recognized the Hamilton High School Cross Country boys for their State Championship at today's board meeting. Congratulations!

The #ALBOE approved a Resolution in Recognition of Hamilton Elementary School, Marion County School System, as a National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished School, State School Board District Seven. Congratulations!
The Phillips High JAG Chapter has been very busy: they partnered with Alabama PALS (People Against A Littered State) organization to participate in the annual “School Campus Cleanup” program, and they also collected over 300 canned goods in partnership with the local Civitan chapter for those in need in the Bear Creek community for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Great job!
National Special Education Day commemorates the anniversary of the nation’s first federal special education law. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was signed into law on December 2, 1972. IDEA made education available to all children, and this day honors the progress that has been made in special education.

Hackleburg Elementary - Thanks to all who made the Math Career Fair for 4th and 5th Grades a success! The 4th and 5th grade math classes presented their careers related to using math every day, and many professionals also came to present their careers. Thanks again!

The Imaginex Career Fair made its way to Phillips High School this morning. This is part of the non-profit company “Reach and Teach” that was founded to promote entrepreneurship, marketing, and business skills to high school students. What a great program for our students!










Velcro Pygmies' lead singer, Cameron Flener, spoke to the Marion County career coaches, school counselors, and mental health specialists about the history of the non-profit company “Reach and Teach” that he co-founded to promote entrepreneurship, marketing and business skills to high school students. The Reach and Teach program includes the Imaginex Career Fair and an accompanying concert. Today’s event was held at Hackleburg High School. The Imaginex career fair will make a stop at Phillips High tomorrow.










American Education Week - celebrating the power of education and thanking the educators and staff who do so much to make our schools the cornerstone of our communities and future.

No one should have to worry about whether they will have food on their plate or a roof over their head. As a society, we have the resources and knowledge to end hunger and homelessness — we just need the collective will to make these ideas a reality.

The JAG Chapter of Phillips High School collected over 300 pairs of socks during the month of October for the JAG State Project “Socktober.” Alabama JAG has partnered with the Salvation Army to provide socks for homeless shelters throughout our state.
