It's National School Breakfast Week!

There will be no school for Marion County students tomorrow, March 1st, 2024. This will be a workday for teachers.

School dismissed Thursday at 12:30 for the state championship basketball game. There will be no school Friday for students.

So proud of our National Beta scholarship recipients! Caroline Pyron and Krissa Comer were both selected to receive $1000 scholarships for their leadership and service. Of the thousands of applicants nationwide each year, only 257 are chosen to receive a scholarship and we have two! Way to go, girls!

MCHS’s Beta Club competed in the Alabama State Convention last week in Montgomery where they received several honors and awards. Two students were recipients of a $1000 scholarship (Krissa Comer and Caroline Pyron); we were 3rd place in 3D design, 7th Social Studies(Hank Miles), 10th Social Studies (Mason Hunsinger), Woodworking (Gavin Williams), and Club Trading pin; we won 1st place in Color Photography (Ella Ezekiel) and 2D design; Max Herdzik was selected as a Premier Performer and will be a part of the opening ceremony this summer at National Convention in Savannah, Georgia. Caroline Pyron served as the Alabama Beta VP through the convention and Mrs. Beckon is currently the State Sponsor-elect. We are so proud of our club and thankful for all the loving support we receive!

Mrs. Beckon’s 10th grade Honors class produced some beautiful maps of the travels of Odysseus with their reading of The Odyssey by Homer!

All students riding the fan bus must be on the bus 2/26 by 7am. $13 cash admission. They will also need money for food. BJCC is a cashless venue so if they eat inside they will need a debit card. The bus will stop on the way home for those with cash only.

Next week, high school students will have the opportunity to participate
in the Spring 2024 College Application Campaign (February 19-23, 2024). Many colleges have waived application fees for this event. Follow this link for more information and a list of the participating colleges: https://files.constantcontact.com/ecd88bf2801/7b21cf6b-2b3b-466f-8c0e-b9184ec00e9c.pdf
