We are aware of the social media post concerning a threat made to schools in a neighboring county. To our knowledge, there have been no threats made to Marion County Schools. However, our local law enforcement has been made aware of the situation, and our schools will operate on a soft lockdown today only as a precautionary measure.
PES is having a wonderful day of learning! We just wanted to inform parents that we are doing our end of the year practice of our safety lockdown procedures. All is well at PES. Go Bears!
All Marion County Schools will be closed tomorrow (April 7th) for a Weather Day and Monday (April 10th) for a Teacher Work Day. Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe! (School will resume for students on Tuesday, April 11th).
Class pictures will be made tomorrow for the yearbook. Retakes for spring pictures and retakes for cap and gown pictures (grades K and 6th) will also be made tomorrow for those that missed them the first time they were made.
All Marion County Schools will be closed for Spring Break March 27-31, 2023. School will resume on Monday, April 3rd. Have fun and stay safe!
Parents/Guardians…Immunization clinics will be offered on March 21st to all Marion County School students. This is a great time to get your upcoming 6th graders the required TDaP immunization. All students entering 6th grade in Alabama are required to get a booster shot (TDaP). This is also a great time for current 6th graders and above that have not had their TDaP vaccine already to get vaccinated. Other available vaccines are the MCV (meningococcal) and HPV (human papillomavirus). These are optional vaccines. Students not receiving required Alabama vaccines may provide the school with medical or religious exemption forms provided by the Marion County Health Department or their physician's office.
Consent forms will be sent out this week and need to be returned to the school nurse.
National School Breakfast Week celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success. This special week celebrates the national School Breakfast Program and the many ways it gives students a great start every day.
It is almost time for Kindergarten Registration! (Please see the flyer for more information).
This Friday, March 3rd, will be a Teacher Workday for all Marion County Schools. Students will not come to school on that day.
Marion County Schools invites parents to a meeting concerning the district wellness policy on March 16, 2023, at 3:30 PM. The meeting is to be held at the Marion County Board of Education office, 188 Winchester Drive, Hamilton, AL.
Healthy choices at school help keep our students healthy and ready to learn. The wellness policy helps our schools create an action plan for nutrition and physical activity at school. Parents can share feedback to help ensure the policy is meeting the needs of the students.
2nd grade parents- President's Day Projects are due on Tuesday, Feb. 21st.
The Sweetheart dance scheduled for Friday February 17, 2023 has been canceled. There was a conflict in the scheduling of the dance and youth basketball tournament games. We will reschedule and let everyone know the new date.

If you sold chances, they must be turned in no later than 9 a.m. tomorrow morning (Friday, Feb. 10). No chances will be accepted after this time so that we are able to do the drawing tomorrow.

Happy school Counselor's week!
Congratulations to these 4th graders in Miss Harris’ room! They have been using the Reflex math program to work on their math fact fluency. Students have earned certificates for completing facts in groups of 1,000 questions. Zoom in and check out those earned certificates! Collectively all of the 4th graders have answered over 44,000 facts at this point. Wow!
Mrs. Peoples’ 2nd graders are learning about time using an interactive analog clock. Today’s lesson focused on the correct usage of “quarter to”, “quarter past”, and “half past”.
