football

The beginning of each school year brings an excitement with football in the air; especially, in our region of the country. Coined in the 2010 Kenny Chesney song as the “Boys of Fall”, your local high school football team is one of the great rally points for all communities. With each Football Friday so many things must to come together to call it a success. Between Football, Cheer, Band, officials, concessions, gate workers, public address announcer, and facilities, the moving parts of a successful Friday in football season is a more than you can imagine. At PHS we can’t be more excited than what this season holds for our Bears. Coach Adam Lawler has put together an exciting group of young men and a style of play to be reckoned with. With the addition of Coach Wayne Wilkes as offensive coordinator, the Bears are looking for another post season appearance.

The PHS cheerleaders, led by Kymberlyn Young, have worked extremely hard all summer at practice, and around campus to build school spirit and develop a competitive cheer squad.

Our PHS band program, under the guidance of Mr. Nicholas Watts, is growing stronger and looking better than ever with the addition of new uniforms, new instruments, and a widened array of music.

And finally, thank you to the people behind the scenes who do so much to make the night work, such as Athletic Director Chris Gillum, PA announcer Jonathan Tuck, Ms Diane Hulsey, Carly Harbin, band boosters, gate workers, and Mrs Reba Hill (who is always willing to lend a hand). It is the sacrifice of these people who keep the machine going to provide Friday Night Lights. We are thankful to everyone for your support our students and this school. Our next home game will be September 16th versus Meek following two road games at Shoals Christian (9/2) and Cherokee (9/9). As always #GoBears
